Birth Trauma
"At least you and the baby are healthy."
Maybe you've heard those words more times than you can count.
And while you may feel incredibly grateful for your baby, that doesn't erase what happened during your birth.
Perhaps things moved quickly, decisions were made before you could process them, or you felt frightened, powerless, or unheard. Maybe your experience involved an emergency delivery, medical complications, or an unexpected NICU stay.
Even now, you might find yourself replaying certain moments, wondering why things happened the way they did, or struggling to reconcile the birth you imagined with the one you experienced.
When Your Birth Experience Stays With You
A traumatic birth isn't defined only by the medical details. How you experienced those moments matters.
You may notice that certain memories bring up intense emotions, medical appointments make you anxious, or conversations about childbirth leave you feeling unsettled.
For some women, a difficult birth also impacts their confidence, their relationships, or how they feel about a future pregnancy.
And sometimes, it's simply difficult to explain why something that happened months or years ago still feels so close.
Making Sense of What Happened
In therapy, you have space to tell your story without someone rushing to reassure you that everything turned out okay.
Using a trauma-informed approach, we'll work together to understand how your experience continues to affect you and develop ways to manage the emotional responses that come with it.
You get to decide what you're ready to explore, and we'll move at a pace that feels right for you.
You don't have to minimize what happened to appreciate what you have now.
Your birth story matters, and you deserve support in processing it. Reach out when you're ready.
